The ICON2 intervention, supported by the Mastercard Foundation, focuses on two groups: young loaders and transporters in the agricultural value chain and Persons with Disabilities (PWD).

Through the project, WOFAN is ensuring that 9,000 youth aged 18 to 55 who are  working as loaders of agro-produce and transporters, along with 57,750 young PWD, gain access to new job pathways.

At an event in Kudai, Jigawa State, WOFAN’s executive director, Hajia Salamatu Garba, highlighted that the ICON2 project aligns with the Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works-Nigeria strategy, which aims to create 10 million job opportunities in Nigeria by 2030.

Represented by the finance manager, Abdulrasheed Abdulazeez, Garba noted that the project specifically targeted these groups due to their historical marginalization in mainstream interventions.
