Women Engineers Urged To Embrace Innovation

President, Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Chinyere Igwegbe, has asked her members to embrace innovation and be drivers of change in the country.

Igwegbe stated this at the inauguration of the Abia State chapter of the association in Umuahia, the state capital.

noting the need for them to leverage technology to enhance their skills and knowledge.

She added that the event was not a mere ceremony but a celebration of continuity, growth, and unwavering spirit of the association and charged the new leaders to deliver quality service.

Delivering a keynote address, the permanent secretary of the state’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Justina Ebo restated the government’s commitment to female education.

She said the government is also leveraging technological advancement to empower women through STEM education, innovation, and opportunities for mentorship and professional growth.

While congratulating the new leaders for the occasion, the permanent secretary also said the efforts of women engineers in national development cannot be overemphasized.

‎She urged the national body of the association to expand their holistic mechanism and leadership career advancement to ensure that young female engineers align with emerging engineering process.

‎In her acceptance speech on behalf of the new leaders, the chairman, Chibuogwu Okoro said they would justfy the confidence reposed on them by the members.

‎Okoro assured that her tenure will witness a responsive and visionary leadership centred on transparency, accountability, career development and capacity development.
