The Young Women in Politics has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to consider the redeployment of Ms. Delu Yakubu as national coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).

A statement yesterday signed by the convener to Rejoice Salome Ishaku in Abuja, said Yakubu’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian activities and her proven capacity to drive impactful change make her an ideal candidate to lead NSIPA into a new era of social investment and welfare programs.

The group emphasised the urgency of having a leader who understands the complexities of ongoing humanitarian crises, especially in the northern region. Yakubu, being an indigene of the North East, is seen as someone with a profound understanding of the multifaceted issues faced by the people.

“We are aware that Ms. Yakubu was the first candidate nominated by Mr. President to lead the agency. She was screened by the National Assembly and even assumed the office but for some inexplicable reasons she was instead appointed as the senior special assistant to the president on humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation. We are thankful to Mr. President for considering her as his SSA and we firmly believe that if he elevates her to head the NSIPA, she will add immense value to his administration,” the group said.

It added that under her, NSIPA would get significant strides in delivering social interventions that directly benefit vulnerable members of society.

It highlighted Yakubu’s dedication to women’s empowerment, youth development, and poverty alleviation, aligning seamlessly with the goals of the agency.

The group acknowledged Yakubu’s track record, emphasising her ability to manage large-scale social investment programs. As the president’s aide, she has organised empowerment programs, provided essential skills and resources and fostered a sense of inclusion among marginalized communities.

The group commended Ms. Yakubu’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services, exemplified by her recent efforts in delivering free eye care services in Akwa Ibom. They also noted her distribution of essential materials to Almajiri schools in the North.

As a strong advocate for women’s rights and empowerment, it said Yakubu has championed initiatives that uplift and support women in various facets of life. The convener praised her unique leadership style, fostering partnerships with local communities, NGOs, and government agencies.
