Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili’s application to switch her national allegiance from Nigeria to Türkiye has been rejected by World Athletics.

The global governing body cited “integrity concerns” as the primary reason for its decision, emphasising that such a move could “weaken trust in national representation and athlete development systems.”

Ofili, who had previously voiced concerns regarding the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), will remain bound to represent Nigeria in international competitions.

This decision stands unless an appeal is successfully lodged.
