World Championships: Amusan Claims Silver In Women’s 100m Hurdles, Opens Team Nigeria’s Medal Count

Tobi Amusan has secured a silver medal for Team Nigeria at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, marking her first podium finish since her remarkable world title victory in 2022.

The former world champion and record holder clocked an impressive time of 12.28 seconds, finishing just behind Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who raced to gold with a new national record of 12.24 seconds.

American athlete Grace Stark took bronze with a time of 12.34 seconds, while her compatriot Masai Russell narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in 12.44 seconds.

Amusan demonstrated her strong form throughout the competition, winning her opening heat in 12.53 seconds before advancing to the semifinals, where she recorded a time of 12.36 seconds to reach the final.

In the final, she faced a formidable array of competitors, including Grace Stark and Masai Russell from the USA, Danielle Williams from Jamaica, Ditaji Kambundji from Switzerland, Nadine Visser from the Netherlands, Devynne Charlton from the Bahamas, and Pia Skrzyszowska from Poland.
