The group, led by the chief executive officer, David Korede had a global celebration dedicated to a beautiful planet earth where love and gratitude are expressed.

In a statement issued by the CEO of Brilliance and Purposeful Foundation, Korede, he mentioned that their NGO aims to forge partnerships with corporate entities for social impact through environmental education awareness, targeted project initiatives and corporate social responsibility efforts.

“We believe these actions will encourage corporate citizenship and enhance environmental protection,” he said.

An official of LAWMA, Mr Soji Filani, emphasized the dangers of improper plastic disposal and its significant role in causing erosion, disrupting natural water flow patterns and altering sediment transport and erosion along riverbanks and shorelines.

He also highlighted the economic potential of plastic and how residents can capitalise on the opportunity to generate income.

The statement further suggested that governments and agencies can combat the challenge by implementing policies, regulations and programmes to address waste generation, collection and disposal.

The programme manager of Brilliance and Purposeful Foundation, Ms Osinfowokan Omosalewa Grace commended the efforts of the Lagos State government and its agencies in the ongoing awareness and advocacy campaigns aimed at reducing waste generation, maximising resource recovery and mitigating environmental impacts to promote an environmentally-conscious culture.
