World Health Day: NAS Donates Mosquito Nets To Nursing Mothers in Abuja Community

In celebration of World Health Day, the National Association of Seadogs (NAS),Pyrates Confraternity,yesterday, donated insecticides treated mosquito nets to 20 nursing mothers in Dakibiu community,Jabi, Abuja, aiming to combat the spread of malaria among the vulnerable population.

The donation event, brought together healthcare workers, community leaders, and dozens of local mothers, many of whom expressed gratitude for the timely gesture.

Mr Soala Martins,vice president, National Association of Seadogs, Abuja chapter, said “We came here to communicate to the people here on the need to protect their kids against malaria which is a scourge in Africa.”

He also emphasised the need for government intervention in the community in order to give them easy access to basic healthcare facilities and disease prevention tools.

Also speaking Mrs. Philomena Chukulu, a nursing mother and resident of the area, while expressing her appreciation said, “I really appreciate this gesture because it was given to us for free,this net will help protect my baby and me. It means a lot that NAS care about our health.”

The association also partnered with local health officials to educate recipients on the proper use of long-lasting insecticidal nets and the importance of consistent malaria prevention practices.

Nana Giwa,a midwife and resident of Dakibiu community applauded the gesture and encouraged more organisations to support grassroots health initiatives,she added that efforts like these are critical to reducing infection rates and promoting community wellness.

With over 20 nets distributed during the outreach, NAS has signaled its commitment to ongoing health advocacy and hopes to replicate similar initiatives in other high-risk communities in the Federal Capital Territory.
