As part of activities aimed at observing the United Nations World Peace Day, the International Association Of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) FCT chapter has called on everyone to join in propagating peace and understanding.

The association made this known in a press conference as part of activities aimed at observing World Peace Day.

The FCT chapter coordinator, Amb. Sunday Lawal, who spoke with journalists, said it is imperative that everyone has a voice in the pursuit of peace.

The association called on the government, civil society groups, and citizens to prioritise peace-building initiatives while engaging in constructive dialogue.

Amb. Lawal stressed the need for small acts of kindness, which, he said, contribute to a larger picture of peace.

He said the theme of this year’s Peace Day, “Actions for peace: our ambition for the #globalgoals,” reminds everyone of the crucial role each individual plays in fostering a peaceful society, especially in Nigeria, where diversity in cultures and voices exist. ”

We call on all Nigerians to join in promoting dialogue and collaboration, especially considering our diverse cultures and languages.

The statement emphasised the importance of education in promoting global peace. ” We understand the importance of education in the pursuit of global and regional peace, hence the decision of our association to kickstart the School Peace Awareness Programme aimed at bringing the message of peace to schools within the FCT, which are easily prone to the influence of cultism and other vices.”
