Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved today as a public holiday for teachers in honour of World Teachers’ Day.
The commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe, announced this in a statement. He said the holiday declared by the governor underscored the teachers’ central role in nation-building.
He paid glowing tribute to teachers’ resilience, sacrifice, and devotion, describing them as critical stakeholders in advancing human progress and national development.
“Our teachers embody patience, sacrifice, and resilience. They nurture minds, shape futures, and drive society’s growth. Today, Kwara salutes their labour of love, for without teachers, no profession exists,” he declared.
