Director General of the World Peace Organisation (WPO) and country representative of Diplomatic Mission Peace and Prosperity (DMPP) in Nigeria, Prof. Olumuyiwa Babalola, has said the organisations are ready to release their ambassadors to work as special advisers and special assistants to the Nigerian president on peace and conflict matters.
Babalola who said the organisations were ready to collaborate with the present administration of President Bola Tinubu to ensure peace across the country, called on the president to begin to look inwards on ways to solve the problems facing the nation, particularly by building foundations of peace in all areas of the country.
He noted that the special advisers and assistants which the organisations had carefully and strategically selected from the six geo-political zones and all the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) would assist the government to give tactical and strategic information on ways to solve peculiar problems of each people.
The director general said that the committee of the special advisers and assistants to be presented is chaired by the Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, with the following: Dr. Bako Mohammed, Dr. Kabir Ali, Ahmed Mohammed Bello, Dame Adetope Tychus, Prince Osaretin Ogiemwense, Mutawalli Kachalla Barko, Alhaji Abdulmumuni Mamman, Ma’aji Lawan Muhammed, Hon. Ogechukwu Rose Michael, Dr. Tosin Raymond Dokpesi, Hon. Taiye Ibrahim Marafa, Engr. Benedict A.Orjime, Ahmad Abdullahi Ahmad, Zeenat Idris, Arum Paul Ifeanyichukwu, Rabiu Garba and Stella Rita Awelle.
Babalola, who noted that the various steps and actions of the president since the inception of his administration had been pointers to the preparedness and willingness of the leadership to salvage the nation from the various challenges bedeviling it, said the peace experts would help the government with sincere and unbiased tactics rather than political sycophancy.
Babalola noted that they would also, among other responsibilities, work to ensure government’s programmes and policies are well tailored towards the realisation of actual peace in the country.
“It is obvious that President Bola Tinubu is serious and sincere about retracing the country’s path to greatness as the pride of the black race; this is an effort that starts with good governance and sincerity of purpose but more importantly, we must begin to rebuild the pillars of peace upon which other heavy weights would rest.
“Peace is very important to nation building and the WPO would be ready to offer that service to Nigeria by giving our people to serve the government towards ensuring peace building and sustainability from amidst the locales , citizens and denizens of this country,” he said.
