The Traditional Council of Wukari Kingdom in Taraba State has distanced itself from the social media post, which quoted Governor Agbu Kefas, hs claiming that “I am a real Jukun.”

The special adviser on Media to the Aku Uka of Wukari Kingdom, Jolly Agbu Masa-Ibi, reportedly quoted Governor Kefas as making the claim, when the council paid the former a visit at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.

According to the council, the author did not only misrepresented the governor, it was also capable of creating division among the Jukun people.

In a statement issued to LEADERSHIP in Jalingo, and signed by the traditional council, it clarified the circumstances surrounding the social media post, during the visit of the Aku-Uka and other stakeholders’ of Wukari Kingdom.

It emphasised that, the governor’s comment had been taken out of context and deliberately distorted to create division among the Jukun people within and outside Taraba State.

The council explained that, although the governor has official spokespersons and established communication channels, the Palace considered it necessary to respond because it convened the meeting, where the remark was made.

It said, due to the growing public reactions generated by the social media post, it is necessary that it react to put the record straight.

According to the statement, “the Wukari community, led by His Majesty, Ishaku Adda Ali Matakhitswen, the Aku Uka, paid a solidarity visit to Governor Kefas on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.

“During the visit, the Governor reaffirmed his commitment to fairness, integrity and inclusive governance in the administration of the state,” the statement said.

The Council said some individuals had misrepresented the Governor’s reference to being a “real Jukun” to suggest that he was claiming exclusive authenticity while portraying others as inferior.

It described such interpretations as false, unfounded and calculated attempts to sow discord for personal or political gain.

The council stated that the governor’s remark was directed specifically at his kinsmen and was not intended to target or compare any other ethnic group.

It explained that, the comment was made to underscore the moral values traditionally associated with the Jukun people, including honesty, integrity, loyalty and truthfulness, particularly in response to certain allegations made against him.

The Palace likened the declaration to an individual affirming their faith and moral standing in the face of accusations, noting that, such an assertion does not imply superiority but rather a commitment to shared values.

It cautioned against isolating fragments of speeches from their broader context, and warned that such practices could fuel misunderstanding and strain relationships within the community.
