Yamal Breaks Vinicius’ Record History La Liga Assist Feat

Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has broken a record previously held by Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior after becoming the youngest player to reach 50 assists in La Liga since the 2013/14 season.

Yamal reached the milestone at the age of 19 years and 68 days, with his tally now standing at 51 assists in 159 official appearances for Barcelona.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the teenager marked the achievement with two assists in Barcelona’s 3-1 victory over Sevilla, setting up Raphinha twice as the Brazilian completed a hat-trick.

The result maintained Barcelona’s perfect start to the season and kept Hansi Flick’s side at the top of the table.

Yamal decisive in Barcelona comeback

Barcelona fell behind in the 19th minute when Youssef Fofana headed Sevilla into the lead.

Raphinha restored parity just three minutes later, but Yamal had already threatened the hosts when his curling eighth-minute effort was saved by goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos and struck the post.

The Spain international then took centre stage after the interval.

Yamal delivered a precise cross in the 52nd minute which Raphinha converted with a header, beating Kike Salas to put Barcelona 2-1 ahead.

The winger completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute to seal Barcelona’s 3-1 victory and give Yamal two assists on the night.

Yamal beats Vinicius by more than three years

Vinicius previously held the record after registering his 50th assist for Real Madrid in May 2023 at 22 years and 298 days.

Yamal reached the same landmark three years and 230 days earlier than the Brazilian.

His latest achievement further highlights the remarkable attacking output he has produced since breaking into Barcelona’s first team.

Yamal’s 51 assists in 159 official matches represent roughly one assist every three appearances.

The teenager’s contribution against Sevilla was another indication of his growing influence at Barcelona, even on a night when Raphinha claimed the headlines with his hat-trick.

At just 19, Yamal has now moved ahead of Vinicius in a statistical category that reflects his rapid development into one of Barcelona’s principal creative forces.
