Residents of the Yan-Dadi community in Kusada Local Government Area of Katsina State are celebrating a major milestone: electricity is finally installed in the area after over 50 years without it.
A resident, Na Gane Maciji, expressed his excitement over the development, stating that the absence of electricity for decades had slowed socio-economic activities.
He emphasised that the new power supply has revitalised businesses and improved the standard of living in the community.
“We are delighted that we finally have electricity after more than 50 years.
“This has boosted commercial activities and improved our daily lives. We sincerely thank the present administration for remembering us and providing this essential social amenity,” Maciji said.
Similarly, Bala Lawal, a small-scale barber in the community, highlighted how the newly installed electricity has positively impacted his business. According to him, he has now purchased electric clippers, which have significantly increased his customer base and profit, enabling him to better provide for his family.
“I used to struggle with manual clippers, but with electricity, I now use electric clippers, which has improved my work. I make more money now and am grateful to the government for this transformation,” he stated.
Speaking on the broader development efforts in the area, the Chairman of Kusada Local Government, Rabi’u Aliyu, through the Director of Works and Housing, Haruna Abubakar, outlined various projects executed by the council.
These include the rehabilitation of over ten schools, mosques, and hospitals and the construction of feeder roads. Additionally, farmers in the community have benefitted from the distribution of fertilisers and essential farm tools.
