Yari Denies Sponsoring Anti-Tinubu Protests

Former Zamfara State governor and senator representing Zamfara West, Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, has dismissed allegations linking him to the sponsorship of planned protests against the administration of President Bola Tinubu, describing the claims as false, malicious and politically motivated.

In a statement issued by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Abdullahi Abdulkarim Tsafe, Yari said he had no connection whatsoever with any anti-government protest and insisted that the allegations existed only in the imagination of those bent on spreading misinformation and carrying out character assassination.

According to the statement, there was no reason for the former governor to undermine an administration he had consistently supported and worked hard to strengthen.

“Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari has no connection whatsoever with any planned protest against the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The allegation is false, mischievous, politically motivated and exists only in the fertile imagination of those whose stock-in-trade is misinformation and character assassination,” the statement said.

The statement noted that Yari’s relationship with President Tinubu was built on mutual respect, political conviction and a shared commitment to Nigeria’s progress, stressing that he had supported the President’s ambition long before it became fashionable to do so.

It added that President Tinubu had on several occasions publicly acknowledged Yari’s loyalty and contributions to the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“It defies logic and common sense that a man who has committed so much to the success of an administration would suddenly turn around to sponsor protests aimed at undermining that same government,” the statement added.

Yari’s camp further accused unnamed interests of attempting to tarnish his image as his political profile continues to rise nationally, saying the recurring attacks reflected desperation and insecurity on the part of their sponsors.

The statement maintained that the senator remained fully committed to the success of the Tinubu administration and believed that the country’s challenges required collective effort, patience and constructive engagement rather than divisive propaganda.

It said Yari would remain focused on his legislative responsibilities, the welfare of his constituents and the broader national interest, urging Nigerians to disregard the report linking him to anti-government protests.

“No amount of propaganda can alter the facts. No amount of mischief can diminish the longstanding relationship between Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement said.
