A former governor of Zamfara State and senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has donated 85 trucks of fertiliser to farmers across the state.

The agricultural intervention is aimed at easing the financial burden on local farmers and boosting food production ahead of the upcoming farming season.

The initiative was made public in a statement signed yesterday by the chairman of the Publicity Committee for the Senator A. A. Yari Political Organisation, Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad.

According to him, the distribution strategy has been meticulously planned to ensure that all regions of the state benefit from the lawmaker’s gesture.

He explained that, under the distribution framework, each of the eight local government areas across Zamfara North and Zamfara Central senatorial districts will receive five trucks of fertilizer. Meanwhile, the six local government areas within Zamfara West, which is Senator Yari’s immediate constituency, are allocated six trucks each.

Ibrahim noted that to ensure the commodity reaches those who need it most, the selection of beneficiaries will be based strictly on merit rather than political affiliations. The distribution committee, headed by Dr. Lawal M. Liman, stressed that the targeted recipients must be genuine farmers who are genuinely struggling to afford essential agricultural inputs due to skyrocketing market prices.

In a bid to make the input highly accessible, the fertilizer will be heavily subsidized, allowing genuine farmers to purchase a bag at ₦20,000, an appreciative subsidy from the current market price of ₦50,000. The organization has urged beneficiaries to utilize the support judicially while calling on the people of Zamfara to keep the lawmaker and the nation in their prayers.
