Senator Abdulaziz Yari, a former governor of Zamfara, has come under sustained attacks for being named and then accepting the position of Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
Among those throwing jabs at him is his arch-rival, Sen. Kabiru Marafa, now of the ADC, who, in a short video on social media, suggested that Yari doesn’t have the best interests of people experiencing poverty at heart for accepting to lead President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
Joining the attacks was former Kano governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, who pleaded with Yari to reconsider and think of the hardship inflicted on the masses.
Most significantly, associates of the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, have reportedly complained that he had been placed in an insubordinate position to Yari.
Yari, a senator in Akpabio’s chamber, was also his major challenger for the Senate President seat back in 2023.
