Nigeria’s senior men’s cricket team, the YellowGreens, have departed for Namibia ahead of a high-profile T20 and 50-over Tri-Series involving hosts Namibia and Hong Kong China.

The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) confirmed a 16-man squad for the tour, which forms a key part of the national team’s preparations for upcoming international assignments and its continued push to improve its standing in world cricket.

Captain Sulaimon Runsewe will lead the squad into what is expected to be a stern test against two experienced opponents. The series offers the coaching crew an important opportunity to evaluate player development, assess combinations across both formats and build a stronger foundation for future competitions.

Among the notable inclusions are Chima Akachukwu and Miracle Akhigbe, who return to the national set-up after periods away from the team. Their recall is expected to add experience and depth to a squad that blends established internationals with promising young talents.

The touring side will be guided initially by coaches Leke Oyede and Tamuno John, who will oversee preparations and match operations during the opening phase of the series. Newly appointed Head Coach and High Performance Manager Stephen Magongo is scheduled to join the team in Namibia, marking another step in the Federation’s efforts to strengthen the national team structure and improve player development pathways.

Supporting the coaching staff are analyst Jamal Okechukwu, strength and conditioning coach Seye Olympio, and physiotherapist Timothy Adesomowo, ensuring the players have the technical and medical support required throughout the tour.

The Namibia Tri-Series is viewed as a significant milestone in the YellowGreens’ development, providing valuable international exposure and competitive match experience against quality opposition.
