With just 24 hours remaining until the inaugural Yenagoa City International 10km Race, excitement is building among athletes, residents, and stakeholders for what promises to be a landmark sporting event in Bayelsa State.
Scheduled for Saturday, 4th April 2026, the race is poised to transform Yenagoa into a lively centre of athletic prowess, community involvement, and international sporting focus.
Organisers, Nilayo Sports Management Ltd. (NSML), have now released comprehensive details regarding the race route and hydration points, aiming to provide a seamless and world-class experience for all participants.
The race will kick off at Opolo Roundabout on Isaac Boro Expressway, guiding runners along a dynamic 10-kilometre course through prominent areas of the city. The route will traverse Sanni Abacha Expressway and Lambert Eradiri Road, before concluding at the iconic Peace Park, located on Mbiama-Yenagoa Road.
To ensure optimal performance and athlete well-being, strategically positioned water stations will be available at 2.5KM (INEC Junction), 5KM (opposite Zone 16 Police Command), and 7.5KM (Christ Embassy Junction).
The meticulously designed course not only showcases the city’s infrastructure but also prioritises safety, accessibility, and an engaging race-day experience for both elite and amateur runners.
As the final countdown begins, NSML has reiterated its commitment to delivering an event that adheres to international standards, further solidifying Yenagoa’s burgeoning reputation as a premier destination for road racing in Africa.
