Yobe Establishes First Islamic Zonal Office In Potiskum

Yobe State Arabic and Islamic Board has established first Zonal Office in Potiskum, the headquarters of Potiskum local government area of Yobe State.

This was disclosed by the executive secretary of the Arabic and Islamic Education Board, Mallam Umar Abubakar, while speaking to newsmen in his office in Damaturu recently.

According to him, the first new zonal Office established in Potiskum since the board was created in 2002 would facilitate the effective coordination and supervision of the curriculum and extramural activities of all the Islamiyya and Tsangayya schools within the zone and the state at large.

He said the establishment of the zonal office in Potiskum is aimed at streamlining the academic activities of both the Tsangayya and Islamiyya schools to ensure uniformity of academic standards to enable the products of the Islamiyya and Tsangayya schools obtain ordinary level certificate so as to enable them gain admission to further their studies in tertiary institutions within and outside the country.

Umar explained that entrepreneurial skills would be incorporated into the academic exercise of both Tsangayya and Islamiyya schools to make them self-employed.

He said more zonal offices would be established  to ensure the effective monitoring and evaluation of Islamiyya and Tsangayya schools in accordance with the established laws of the Yobe State Government.
