The Yobe State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, has launched the distribution of 2, 000 double decker beds and 1, 500 two seater desks to senior secondary schools in the state.
The commissioner of the Ministry, Dr Mohammed Sani Idriss, while launching the distribution in Damaturu said the gesture was part of the present administration’s efforts of making a conducive atmosphere for learning and teaching.
Idriss said since inception, the present administration of Hon Mai Mala Buni has within its limited resources been injecting money into the education sector with the aim of changing the narrative in the sector.
He said the ministry would do everything possible towards ensuring that all policies and programmes of the governor were implemented to that letter for a better future.
“Right now, the ministry has outlined the distribution strategy and as usual I’ve given a directive to that effect.
“May I at this juncture direct principals of all benefiting schools to ensure judicial utilisation of the furniture provided.
“The schools must also ensure proper maintenance as the government will not condone the usual non challenge attitude especially on maintenance culture,” the commissioner disclosed.
He restated the commitment of the present administration towards continued provision of more beds and desks to secondary schools across the state.
