Special Adviser on Security Matters to the state governor, Brig.-Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd), in a statement described the report as false, misleading, attributing it to the handiwork of mischief makers in the State.

The purported intelligence report titled: “Immediate Security Alert” was making the rounds online, with the claim that suspected Boko Haram fighters were advancing towards Damaturu.

According to Abdulsalam, the information did not emanate from his office, fake and should be disregarded in its entirety and had no basis.

He urged the public, especially residents of Damaturu to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without fear.

Abdulsalamu assured of the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security, while warning against the spread of fake news capable of causing unnecessary panic among citizens.
