Speaking to journalists in Damaturu, the state capital, the state NUJ chairman, Comrade Rajab Mohammed, described Buni’s appointment as a significant milestone for Yobe State, the Northeast region, and Nigeria.

He expressed confidence that the governor’s leadership would bring about improved livelihoods for people in the region.

He added that “ The Leadership of the forum will contribute to transforming the Lake Chad Basin, fostering development, and enhancing security for communities affected by the 15-year Boko Haram insurgency, which has claimed many lives and destroyed property.”

He also commended Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum for providing a hospitable environment for the three-day meeting at the Indimi International Conference Centre, Maiduguri.

He further appreciated the efforts of Mohammed Mamman, the director general of Press and Media Affairs; members of the National and State Assemblies; security agencies; the media; traditional rulers; civil society organisations (CSOs); and youth and women’s groups, all of whom contributed to the forum’s success.

According to him, the meeting concluded with the release of a 13-point communiqué outlining key resolutions to foster regional stability and development.
