Yobe State Government Standing Committee on Recovery of Rustled Cattle and Other Livestock has recovered 48 cows found without herdsmen or traceable owners.
The committee said the livestock were discovered last Friday between Mafa and Sassawa, spanning Tarmuwa and Damaturu local government areas.
A combined team of Nigerian Army operatives and members of the Hunters Group, who were on routine operations in the area, recovered the cattle.
The chairman of the committee and special adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), said the rightful owners are advised to come forward with valid proof of ownership to reclaim their livestock.
He said that this measure is part of the government’s sustained effort to recover rustled cattle, restore peace, and ensure justice for livestock owners across the state.
The committee reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with security agencies, traditional rulers, and local communities to curb cattle rustling and related crimes in Yobe State.
