Yobe State Task Force on Petroleum Product (YTPP) has embarked on an unscheduled visits to filling stations over fuel scarcity especially in Damaturu the state capital.

A gallon of premium motor spirit (PMS) was sold at the cost of N3,600 on Wednesday morning across Damaturu at the black market forcing an increase on the transport fare by commercial drivers and tricycle operators on each passenger.

The chairman of the taskforce who is also the permanent secretary Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Dr Musa Abba Kolere, while speaking on the exercise said the visit became necessary as some filling stations were in the habit of hoarding the product to the detriment of motorists.

Kolere said though they cannot force the adjustment of any increase on pump price, the government will not fold its arm watching filling stations creating unnecessary hardship for the people.
