The Yobe State committee for the inauguration of Governor Mai Mala Buni for the second term has resolved to organise the swearing-in ceremony of the governor and his deputy at the August 27th Stadium in Damaturu contrary to what happened In 2019 when they took their oaths of office at the banquet hall of the Government House in Damaturu with participation strictly on invitation.
The commissioner for information, home affairs and culture and chairman, media and publicity sub-committee, Hon. Mohammed Lamin while briefing newsmen on the level of preparation said the decision of holding the event at an open arena was resolved by the main inaugural committee.
He said people of Yobe State were proud of the achievements of Governor Buni in the last four years despite challenges, hence were eager to participate in his second term inauguration.
“Looking objectively at Gov. Buni’s first tenure inaugural speech in 2021, and his accomplishments despite the COVID-19 challenges and the economic recess, I make bold with my head high, to say that the performance standard reached is closed to 80% which is above pass mark in the world wide governance indicators (WGI).
“This is traceable in the areas of infrastructures, health sector reforms, education and youth and women empowerment, employment generation among others carried out with responsive and inclusive governance style. No doubt, Gov Buni is a promise keeper and a committed visionary leader whose objective is among others, ensuring developments and better living standard for his people,” he said.
He urged the residents to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner and give security agencies maximum support and cooperation for the event to succeed.
