Yoruba Council Nominates Daramola For Prestigious Award

The Yoruba Council Worldwide (YCW) has announced Professor Olusegun Daramola as a nominee for the esteemed Omoluabi Royal Icon (ORI) Award, recognising his outstanding contributions to Yoruba culture and development.

The award is part of the 26th Anniversary of YCW/7th Annual Omoluabi Festival, themed “Review of the 1999 Constitution; A Focus on Regionalism.” The festival will be held on May 1st, 2025, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to a statement by the YCW, the festival will feature a range of activities, including a Festival of Arts, Dance Drama, and the Omoluabi Royal Icon (ORI) Awards. The event will also host prominent figures, including His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife, and Iku Baba Yeye, Alayeluwa Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, Alaafin of Oyo.

The YCW has invited Professor Daramola to consider partnership and sponsorship opportunities to support the event, which aims to promote Yoruba culture and heritage. The council also appreciated Professor Daramola’s distinguished positive roles in developing Yoruba land and Nigeria.

The Omoluabi Royal Icon (ORI) Award is a prestigious recognition of individuals who have significantly contributed to Yoruba culture and development. Professor Daramola’s nomination is a testament to his dedication and commitment to promoting Yoruba heritage.
