The Yoruba Council Worldwide (YCW) has announced that Professor Olusegun Daramola will be conferred with the esteemed Omoluabi Royal Icon (ORI) Award, Aare Atunluse Omoluabi Oodua Agbaye title, in recognition of his significant contributions to Yoruba culture and heritage.
The award ceremony is scheduled for May 1, 2025, at the main auditorium of the June 12 Cultural Centre in Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The event forms a key part of the 26th Anniversary of the YCW and the 7th Annual Omoluabi Festival, which is themed “Review of the 1999 Constitution: A Focus On Regionalism.”
The festival aims to foster robust discussions on governance, culture, and the arts, serving as a platform for stakeholders and community leaders to engage in meaningful dialogue.
In a statement, the YCW praised Professor Daramola for his “distinguished positive roles” in advancing the development of Yoruba land and Nigeria.
Her efforts in preserving and promoting Yoruba culture were described as “invaluable,” earning him this prestigious recognition.
The YCW also invited Professor Daramola to explore partnership and sponsorship opportunities for the event, emphasising its role in promoting Yoruba heritage globally.
