Yoruba Group Debunks Threat To Lives In Kano

A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and opinion leader, Seyi Olorunsola has called on President Bola Tinubu and other Yoruba leaders to dispel claims by a certain Concerned Yoruba Community in Kano that their lives would be threatened if Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is sacked.

The call was made yesterday by Olorunsola in response to an earlier claim by the Concerned Yoruba Community that their lives were under threat.

“There are media reports calling on the president and other Yoruba leaders in the country to interfere in the issue of sacking Yusuf as state governor to avoid any potential threat to members of the community.

“There is a group of persons led by a certain Mr Taofeek Olaesebikan. Let me state here clearly that Olaesebikan is not a Yoruba leader in Kano and does not represent any shade of the Yoruba community in this state as represented in that report. As a matter of fact, Mr Taofeek Olaesebikan is a known member of the NNPP and the statement issued by him and his select group of persons is simply a political kite which is being flown on behalf of the NNPP with a view to causing disaffection and crisis within the Yoruba nation in Kano and the people of Kano in general,” he said.

He further explained that the Yoruba in Kano are neither inclined to religious nor political sentiments and have been living in peace in the state. He therefore condemned the said group for wrongly instigating the populace against Yorubas resident in the state.

“It is therefore very sad that some individuals would be playing a scripted role orchestrated by their political paymasters within the NNPP to rubbish the good name of Yoruba people in this state. Their objective is to exploit ethnic sentiments to create discord thereby portraying the APC as insensitive to the needs of the people.

“This tactic is part of a broader strategy to incite violence and unrest, as indicated by recent warnings issued by the APC in the state regarding potential violent protest,” he stated.
