As the supremacy crisis continues to brew between the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, the Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) has called on the latter to caution his media aides against rushing to issue statements without carefully studying the situation.

The association’s national president, Comrade Olalekan Hammed, said in Ibadan on Sunday that there was no doubt that both the Ooni and the Alaafin were enjoying a cordial relationship and prioritising peace, unity and the development of Yorubaland above all else.

“It is pertinent. Undoubtedly, the Ooni of Ife and the Alaafin of Oyo enjoy a cordial relationship and prioritise peace, unity, and development of Yoruba land, among other things.

“Their media aides should also be working towards achieving peace, unity, and development and not fanny embers of enmity due to their unprofessionalism in carrying out their duties.

As professional journalists, they are directly or indirectly media advisers in their respective palaces, and they should ensure that all efforts are geared towards promoting peace between the two foremost traditional rulers.

“They can indeed do better in that regard. Enough of drumming up unnecessary muscle flexing and superiority-related reactions from palace aides”, the youths said.
