Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has made it clear that the club will not block Vinícius Jr. from leaving the Santiago Bernabéu, should the Brazilian forward decide to seek a new challenge elsewhere.
Contract talks between the reigning LaLiga champions and the 23-year-old winger have reportedly stalled in recent weeks, fueling growing speculation about his long-term future in the Spanish capital. Despite the uncertainty, Pérez struck a calm yet resolute tone in a recent interview with El País.
“There’s still time to reach an agreement on an extension,” Pérez said. “I would love for him to stay here for the rest of his career. He identifies deeply with this club. The only people who don’t appreciate him are those who aren’t Real Madrid fans.”
However, the veteran president was equally firm about the player’s right to choose his own path. “If he doesn’t want to be at Madrid and prefers to sign with someone else, he will be free to do so. I’m not going to force him into anything,” Pérez added. “Money will never be the deciding factor – it never has been for us.”
The remarks mark a notable shift in tone from the club’s usual stance of holding onto star assets at all costs.
Vinícius, who has grown into one of the most electrifying attackers in world football, remains under contract until 2027, but the prolonged negotiations have caught the attention of several top European clubs.
For now, Pérez insists the door remains open on both sides – whether that leads to a renewal or a farewell is entirely up to the player himself.
