Fresh creative talents have emerged from schools and tertiary institutions across Lagos State following the grand finale of the Eko Schools Arts and Crafts Competition 2.0.

Organised by the Lagos State Government, the competition featured categories including painting, sculpture, beadwork, textile design, digital art and upcycling. The 2026 edition attracted 489 registered participants, with 132 students submitting entries from schools across the state’s five divisions and selected tertiary institutions.

Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, described the event as a celebration of creativity, innovation and culture. She noted that the competition remains a key platform for discovering and nurturing young artistic talents.

The theme, “This Is Lagos”, challenged participants to interpret the state’s identity, heritage and diversity through art.
