‘Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo’ is a social health crusade founded by the First Lady of Anambra State, Dr. Mrs Nonye Soludo to re-establish health consciousness and promote good health in families, schools and communities in the state and beyond.

Okoli gave the commendation at a seminar which brought women together to mark the official inauguration of the Healthy Living Advocates in Awka, the state capital.

The president general appreciated the Dr Soludo for her efforts in introducing the programme to bring awareness to healthy living.

Okoli also thanked Governor Soludo for his leadership style which he said was unprecedented in the state.

He stressed that there are two main values in life comprising healthy life and good leadership, saying Anambra people were blessed with both.

In a renewed drive to strengthen grassroots health advocacy, the youth wing and women of ASATU promised to join in the initiative aimed at promoting healthy living across the state’s 179 communities.

According to Comrade Okoli, one of the crucial roles of young people and mothers in a community is health mobilisation.

He noted that the new handbook would serve as a strategic resource for campaigns focusing on wellness, hygiene, physical fitness and civic responsibility.

He also said the movement was not just about health but also a campaign for good governance.

“The reason for collaboration with ASATU women is to align with the vision of Dr Nonye Soludo as she champions the Healthy Living initiative,” he said.

Delivering a keynote address at the event, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, speaking on the theme: “Raising Healthy Living Advocates in the 179 Communities in Anambra State” described the initiative as a timely and strategic intervention to sustain the gains of the Soludo administration.

This he noted include policies targeting women and children, free education, free antenatal care and free delivery services.

Other speakers at the seminar included the head of Reproductive Health in the State Ministry of Health, Dr Uju Okoye; a representative of Igwe Bennett Emeka, the Okebo II of Umueri; Chief Whip of the Njikoka Congress of Councillors, Chinweogo Uba; APGA women leader, Hon Mrs Esther Onyekesi; Lady Joy Otti, acting leader of ASATU women wing, Head of Training (ITF) Nnenna Nwadike and Obianuju Orjiekwe.
