Youth Minister: South-West Group Seeks Support For Hon Adamu

A South-West pressure group, Youth Rebirth Progressives Union, has reaffirmed its support for the ministerial bid of Hon. Dauda Adamu, calling on President Bola Tinubu to appoint him to the vacant Youth Ministry slot.

The leadership of the group called on President Tinubu and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider Hon. Adamu as the rightful choice for the vacant Minister of Youth Development position, stating that Adamu was eminently qualified to occupy the exalted position on account of his extensive involvement within the APC and his significant contributions to both Nigerian and the party.

The group’s National President, Jimoh Lawson, who spoke on behalf of the union, on Saturday, in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, stated that Dauda Adamu, who hails from Taraba State was a committed card-carrying member of the APC, boasting a wealth of experience in party politics spanning from local to international levels.

He stated further that Adamu’s unwavering dedication was evident through his active engagement in various party responsibilities, his integral role in strategic party assignments, and his participation in key campaign committees at national, state, and local tiers have endeared him to the youths within the region.

“Today, we make bold to say as youths within the South-West region that Hon. Dauda Adamu possesses the right quality to lead and represent us as a Youth body. Adamu has made many contributions to the success of our party as a loyal servant and played vital roles in the APC Presidential Campaign Councils for both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2022/2023 bid and former President Muhammadu Buhari’s successful 2019 campaign. Notably, he was appointed as Special Assistant to the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the APC, where he served with distinction from inception to completion.

“Beyond his political involvement, Mr. Adamu is a dynamic professional, tested & trusted who possesses an array of experience both within Nigeria and on the international stage. His expertise spans across Banking, Management & Finance, Oil and Gas-Refineries Operations, Supply Chain Management, Marketing Management, and Corporate Strategic Planning & Auditing. His impressive journey includes serving as a Senior Special Assistant to the representative of the Senate in the NC & EC planning committee of the APC in 9th Assembly as well as holding esteemed positions such as Senior Special Assistant to the GED/COO Refineries and Petrochemicals at NNPC and the Executive Vice Chairman of Broron Oil & Gas Limited. His exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills make him an asset in any team-oriented or self-oriented environment,” Lawson stated.

He also added that Adamu has a solid educational background that reflects his personal and professional growth.

“Adamu holds a Master’s degree in Management and Finance with Commendation from the esteemed Birmingham City University in the UK, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance from Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, Nigeria. His academic journey was punctuated by successful completion of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) in 2005. His impeccable academic prowess was greatly rewarded when he served as one-day commissioner in Lagos State when his secondary school produced the winner of the 1st female spelling B competition during President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s tenure as Lagos State Governor,” Lawson stated.

The group acknowledged that the APC was blessed with youths who possess the leadership qualities needed to occupy the seat of the Minister of Youth, but emphasised that Adamu’s influence within the APC was undeniable, having served in a plethora of significant roles within the party.

“We are convinced that Hon. Dauda Adamu remains one of the cerebral youth who continues to serve our party selflessly, in 2023, he was appointed as a Member of the Presidential Inauguration and Transition on the Renewed Hope Concert’s Contact and Mobilization team. A Member of the Tinubu-Shattima APC Presidential Campaign Councils. He was also on the Directorate of Contact and Mobilization, North-East, and Directorate of Protocol and Events, North.

“Adamu also made great contributions as Chairman of the APC Ebonyi State Assembly Primary Election Committee, Deputy Secretary/Head of the National Situation Room for the APC National Campaign Council on FCT Area councils’ election, among others.
