‎As the world marks the 2025 International Youth Day, head of Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau, Abia State, Oluebube Chukwu, has said youths are the country’s greatest assets.

‎Chukwu stated this while speaking to the media yesterday, in Umuahia, the state capital.

He underscored the need to prioritise issues affecting youths estimated to be about 90 million.

‎According to him: “It’s time to match words with action. Prioritizing youth’s welfare is not just a moral duty—it is a strategic imperative for our nation’s future.”

‎He said the 2025 IYD’s theme, ‘Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond’, is apt, stressing the roles of youths in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through grassroots innovation and engagement.

‎”Our youth must not merely survive—they must thrive. Government and stakeholders must move beyond tokenism to implement tangible, measurable reforms that place young people at the center of development,” he said.

‎Chukwu, who highlighted the significance of community-based action, lauded youth-led efforts that are translating SDG goals into real-world impact—from climate resilience to education and employment.
