YSCHMA Takes Free Healthcare To Over 1,500 Vulnerable Residents In Gashua

The Yobe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (YSCHMA) has provided free healthcare services to over 1,500 vulnerable residents of Gashua, headquarters of Bade Local Government Area, as part of efforts to expand access to quality healthcare and reduce the financial burden of medical treatment on families.

The free medical outreach, held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Lawan Musa Primary Healthcare Centre, Gashua, provided beneficiaries with medical consultations, diagnosis, free medications, health education and other essential healthcare services.

Speaking during the exercise, the Executive Secretary of YSCHMA, Dr. Babagana Tijjani, said the initiative was designed to bring healthcare services closer to vulnerable residents, particularly those who may face difficulties accessing essential medical care.

He explained that beneficiaries received comprehensive services, ranging from medical consultations and diagnosis to the provision of free medications, stressing that the agency remained committed to ensuring that no resident was left behind in accessing quality healthcare.

“We are working to ensure that no one is left behind in accessing quality healthcare services,” Dr. Tijjani said.

The Executive Secretary said the outreach formed part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to scale up access to healthcare services and reduce out-of-pocket expenditure among vulnerable populations in Gashua and across Yobe State.

He added that the initiative was in line with the health policy agenda of the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni, which places emphasis on improving access to quality and affordable healthcare for residents.

Some beneficiaries who spoke separately expressed appreciation to YSCHMA and the Yobe State Government for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful.

They commended the healthcare providers for the quality of services delivered and expressed satisfaction with the level of care received during the outreach.
