Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has washed his hands of an escalating custody dispute between his wife, Judy Austin, and her ex-husband, Emmanuel Obasi.
In a sharp post on X Friday morning, Edochie said fans had urged him to “let” Obasi see his children, a request he flatly rejected. He insisted he has never stopped anyone from seeing their kids, accusing critics of chasing clout off his name instead of doing the right thing. His message to Obasi was to call his ex-wife, not him.
The fallout follows weeks of public sparring. Obasi recently went on a podcast claiming he hasn’t seen his two children with Austin in years, accusing her of deliberately freezing him out.
Austin hit back, denying Edochie has ever blocked access and arguing he deserves praise, not blame, for housing, feeding and clothing the kids. She added that Obasi has never pursued formal custody through the courts.
Obasi, undeterred, has accused Edochie of improperly “harbouring” his children while he’s alive and capable of caring for them himself, questioning whether that squares with his status as a traditional chief.
The drama traces back to 2022, when Edochie publicly unveiled Austin as a second wife, triggering his split from first wife May Edochie.
