Yul Edochie Under Fire For Questioning Late Alexx Ekubo’s Private Marriage

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has sparked a major online debate after publicly questioning why the late actor, Alexx Ekubo, chose to keep his marriage entirely private.

The controversy began after Alexx’s wife, Anwuli, made her first public appearance at his service of songs in Lagos State on Wednesday, June 10. Following her appearance, an X user noted that the late actor, who passed away in May from kidney cancer, had hidden his marriage from the public.

Reacting to the comment, Yul stated that keeping such personal milestones secret out of fear of public gossip was unnecessary. He urged public figures to live their lives openly without worrying about what people or blogs say.

‘’He shouldn’t have hidden anything from anyone. It wasn’t necessary. People must learn to stop worrying about what people say. No matter what you do in life, people must talk… Give them things to talk about while you ignore them and enjoy your life.”

Yul’s remarks quickly drew heavy criticism online. While a few social media users agreed with his view on living openly, many others blasted the actor, arguing that he had no right to criticise his late colleague’s personal choices.
