Benue State governor Hyacinth Alia has declared a two-week holiday for all civil servants in the state to enable them to celebrate Christmas and New Year with their loved ones and harvest their crops.

Governor Hyacinth Alia, who announced this yesterday during a press briefing at Government House Makurdi, said the holiday commenced on Tuesday, December 24, ending on January 6th, 2025.
He explained that the essence of the long holiday is to support workers’ well-being and allow them to enjoy the season with their loved ones as they harvest their crops and rest for the time being.

“I urge you all to seize the opportunity of this long holiday to attend to your agricultural pursuit by harvesting all your crops so that there will be an abundance of food for the family at the end of the holidays,” he said.

The governor, however, informed that all those on essential services like medical personnel, bankers, energy providers, and security agencies are not covered by this long holiday, except if they make in-house arrangements.

Governor Alia advised the Benue people to continue imbibing the spirit of unity, love, and peace while remaining steadfast in their collective efforts to develop the Benue of their dreams.
