As Christians around the world prepare to celebrate this year’s Christmas festivities, Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has advised Nigerians and residents of the state not to overindulge but to join hands in prayers for economic recovery, peacebuilding for sustainable development to thrive.
Emphasising the essence of love as a pathway to peace, the governor, speaking during the December edition of the monthly Covenant Service, held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo, the state capital stressed the need for unity of purpose to restore stability to the polity.
Thanking Nigerians for the outpouring of sympathy for the first family in its moment of grief over the demise of the first lady, Pastor Patience Eno, whose remains were committed to earth over the weekend, the governor said he was overwhelmed by such show of solidarity with the outpouring of love from Akwa Ibomites, Nigerians and from those in the diaspora over.
He noted that if the kind of love shown the family during the home-going ceremonies for his wife could be replicated in other state matters, nothing would be impossible to overcome in the coming years.
Governor Eno appreciated everyone for identifying with the First Family, and for their prayers and support, saying that such demonstration of love places a huge burden on his shoulders for greater service to the people of the state.
He assured that the government under his leadership was determined to diligently serve the people assuring that; “we will continue to serve this State with all of the things that God has given us.”
He, therefore, advised everyone, irrespective of social standings and political party affiliations, to spread love within their environment, and make people around them to feel the impact of God’s blessings in their lives.
While praying for more blessings upon the state, especially in the new month, he appreciated everyone who attended, for their sacrifices, and assured that God, through prayers of the faithful shall continue to bless the state.
