Zamfara Agog As Marafa Inaugurates NDC Campaign Council

Zamfara State was thrown into a carnival-like atmosphere on Monday night as the governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Kabiru Marafa, inaugurated his campaign council.

The event, which drew a large crowd, stalled Marafa’s scheduled activities until after 8pm as supporters trooped out en masse to welcome him.

While inaugurating the campaign committee, Marafa presented luxury vehicles to some party chieftains. He said each vehicle donated was equivalent to “100 vehicles” that members of the ruling party could not afford.

Marafa accused members of the ruling party of abandoning the people of Zamfara since he left the party.
He vowed to resume his support programmes for the people, adding that once he started, members of the ruling party would be compelled to imitate him.

“Now that I have returned, I will continue to support the people. I know that once I start, they will follow,” he said.

The NDC governorship candidate also announced plans to distribute vehicles on five different occasions to five categories of his campaign and party officials, from the state level down to the grassroots.

Marafa said youths and women would be major beneficiaries of his support programmes aimed at reducing the economic hardship they were experiencing under the current administration.

He promised that his government, if elected, would work with and support the people of Zamfara.

He added that further details of his welfare and security agenda would be unveiled as he continues his engagements across the 14 local government areas of the state in an effort, as he put it, to “wipe away their tears.”

The former senator thanked the crowd for their turnout and apologised for the delay in the commencement of the programme.

“I arrived in the state in the morning, but the large number of people who came out to welcome me prevented me from proceeding with my scheduled activities until after 8pm,” he said.

The inauguration marks the formal kick-off of Marafa’s campaign structure ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Zamfara State.
