Zamfara APC Overloaded, Can Explode, Says Dr Shinkafi

A top notcher of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Dr Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi (Wamban Shinkafi), has  cautioned Governor Dauda Lawal who recently defected to the APC to note that the party is overloaded in the state and could explode if proper care is not taken.

Dr Shinkafi who was addressing supporters in his house in Gusau during iftar ( breaking of fast) commended Governor Lawal for his decision to join the APC and assured of support for the governor for the development of the state.

He advised the governor to be cautious of the fact that the party was now fully overloaded with highly recognised politicians who should be handled with great care to avoid a repeat of what happened in 2023 where his predecessor, Bello Matawalle, lost an election due to anti-party activities.

Shinkafi maintained that Governor Lawal was able to win the 2023 governorship election with over 60 percent of the protest votes by the aggrieved APC supporters who were molested and offended by Bello Matawalle during his tenure as governor.

He said, “ I want to advise Governor Dauda Lawal to note that he is now the leader of the APC.’’

“Most of the people who voted him into power in 2023 were not the only PDP members, there were also APC members who did anti-party activities because of the attitudes of the former governor Bello Matawalle.

“He has not treated people with all manners of sincerely and for that, some people within the APC decided to do anti-party activities to end his tenure.

“Secondly, the former governor was not accessible and has not paid more attention to the issue of insecurity. All these and many other issues were the major problems that led Bello Matawalle to lose his second tenure election”.

Shinkafi also called on Governor Lawal to note that APC members are used to provision of welfare packages unlike their counterparts in the PDP who were very patient.

“I humbly want to draw the attention of my brother and friend Dr Dauda Lawal to note that APC is not PDP. He should not treat members of the APC the way he treated his former party members because our people are used to welfare.

“We all know that the APC has been without a governor since 2023 but its members are not complaining because the distinguished senator Abdul Aziz Yari is always ready to provide them with welfare.

“Other leaders of the party like Honourable Aminu Sani Jaji, Honourable Abdulmalik Zubairu Zannan Bungudu, honourable Bello Matawalle, Alhaji Muktari Shehu Idris, my humble self and host of other APC stalwarts are giving welfare in accordance with our earning capacities”.

“So I expect the governor to include welfare package as one of the priorities of his administration”.

“We are all living witnesses to the fact that, Governor Lawal has done wonderfully well in the area of infrastructural development more than any other governor in the state.

“He was the only governor who was able to implement the national minimum wage and the only governor who was able to complete the international airport in the state which was started several years ago but abandoned”.

Dr Shinkafi assured the governor that his supporters under the umbrella of  Wamban Shinkafi Democratic Front were solidly behind him and congratulated him for his new role as the leader of APC in the state.

“We have seen how political situation has changed in our dear state and we welcome Governor Dauda Lawal to our party”.

“It is a great achievement within our great party as we have experienced political intimidation, harassment and threats by the Minister of State Defence, Bello Matawalle who has seen APC as his personal property or estate”

“He was seeing himself as a mini God or Almighty because he was the leader of APC in the state being a minister in the federal executive council and a former governor”.

“He has been misinforming the president about the political stakeholders of the APC in Zamfara state”.

“Everybody knows that, we have critical stakeholders in the state who are shakers and movers of Zamfara politics but because of Matawalle’s antics, he tried to look down upon us”.

“Let me remind Matawalle that, I am not a small politician who can be swept under the carpet”.

Wamban Shinkafi stressed that he and his supporters have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the sole candidate for the 2027 general élections.

He also announced that, he and his political associates have endorsed Senator Abdul Aziz Yari as the Great Grand APC leader in the northwest zone.

He added that, Yari was the most important member of the APC in the whole country, adding that, “Without Senator Abdul Aziz Yari, there will be no APC”.

Shinkafi maintained that many people across the country are in APC because of Senator Yari, concluding that, “I have seen a future President in Abdul Aziz Yari come 3031”.

On his future ambition, Wamban Shinkafi stressed that, he would soon meet with his political associates to discuss on whether he would go for governorship contest in 2027 under APC or support Dauda Lawal to complete his second tenure.
