In a statewide broadcast yesterday, Governor Lawal lamented the disturbing conditions of the hospitals across the state.

The decision of the governor to declare a state of emergency was as a result of an unscheduled visit he paid to the General Hospital in Gusau, the state capital.

Lawal said the hospitals needed urgent intervention due to the poor state of facilities, equipment and the workers.

He expressed concern over the poor condition that patients were experiencing in hospitals and highlighted interventions by his administration.

“On Sunday, January 28, 2024, I made an unscheduled visit to the General Hospital in Gusau to assess its condition. I was shocked and worried by the unhealthy and poor environment that patients seeking medical attention were exposed to.
