The “MAMA HURIYYA 4+4 2026” football competition, named in honour of Zamfara State’s First Lady, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has commenced in Tsafe Local Government. The opening match saw Jimmy FC take on Juventus FC.

The tournament is sponsored by Alhaji Mustafa Salisu Kainuwa, an All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Tsafe/Gusau federal House of Representatives seat. Mr Kainuwa organised the event to recognise the First Lady’s significant commitment to women’s empowerment.

The “MAMA HURIYYA” Football Tournament was officially launched last weekend at the National Youth Service Corps permanent site in Tsafe, Zamfara State.

Honourable Mustafa Salisu Musa Kainuwa explained that the primary aim of the tournament is to unite young people, transcending their social, economic, and political differences. He stated, “Creating an avenue that would enhance mutual understanding, trust, and foster relationships between various fans and players from different clubs, for the development of the football industry in our respective communities.”

Mr Kainuwa also pledged to establish a football academy in Tsafe to nurture emerging talent, aiming to transform sports from a leisure activity into a viable business.

Alhaji Buba Turakin Bilbis, a former Commissioner for the Zamfara State Feeding Agency, promised a five thousand Naira (N5,000) reward for every player who scores a goal in each match. He encouraged participants to uphold discipline, fair play, and camaraderie throughout the tournament.
