The Zamfara State Government has recruited 500 teachers into the State Civil Service as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to revitalise the education sector.
The Chairman, Zamfara State Civil Service Commission and Recruitment Committee, Aliyu Mohammed Tukur, who disclosed this said the recruitment process was highly competitive.
Tukur said 11,708 candidates applied for the teaching jobs through the state’s online portal out of which 8,184 applicants met the required standards and were screened, while 3,105 candidates participated in the Computer-Based Test (CBT).
He further explained that 1,033 candidates qualified for the final oral interview, and after a thorough evaluation, 500 were selected for appointment as teachers across the state.
He addes that the recruited teachers specialise in key subjects including English, Mathematics, Sciences and Vocational Studies.
The committee commended the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for its dedication to the exercise.
“This recruitment marks a significant milestone in addressing the shortage of qualified teachers and improving education quality in public schools,” Tukur said.
Tukur added that the new teachers will be deployed to schools across the state, with priority given to rural and underserved areas.
