Zamfara Gov’t Orders Closure Of Cattle Markets

Zamfara state government has announced the immediate closure of some cattle markets in five local government areas of the state.

The affected cattle markets are; Danjibga and kunchin kalgo in Tsafe local government area, Bagega and Wuya cattles market in Anka local government area, Dangulbi and Dansadau in Maru local government area, Dauran in Zurmi local government area and Nasarawar Burkullu in Bukkuyim local government area.

A statement issued by the state commissioner of information abd culture, Manir Haidara, disclosed the decision to temporarily close the cattle markets was taken during the State Security Council Meeting.

According to the statement, “the closure of the cattle market was a result of the nefarious activities of selling and loading of rustled cattles by the suspected members of armed bandits.”

The council members however called on security agencies and Directorate of Animal Health and Livestock Development to ensure strict compliance.

The council further assured the general public and the relevant stakeholders commitment in monitoring and reviewing the progress with a view to restore peace in the affected cattle market.
