A renowned philanthropist, Dr Sanusi Bala Turaki, has launched a large-scale initiative to feed the less privileged across 42 centres in Zamfara State as the Muslim holy month of Ramadan begins.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Dr. Bala announced that the initiative aims to provide daily meals to 100 people at each center, benefitting 4,200 individuals over 30 days.
Dr. Bala, known for his extensive charitable activities, emphasized his commitment to giving back to the community.
His past efforts include offering full scholarships to students, supporting educational outreach programmes in primary and secondary schools, and donating food supplies to vulnerable households.
This initiative is a testament to his dedication to supporting those in need,“ the statement reads.
Zamfara State, one of Nigeria’s most impoverished regions, has faced ongoing humanitarian challenges, including food insecurity.
The initiative is expected to provide much-needed relief to struggling families during Ramadan, a time of fasting and reflection for Muslims worldwide.
Also in statement, community leaders and beneficiaries have lauded the effort, with many expressing gratitude for the gesture at a critical time.
Muslims observe Ramadan by fasting from dawn to dusk, with an emphasis on charity and spiritual devotion. Dr Bala’s initiative aligns with the principles of the holy month by ensuring that those in need have access to nutritious meals.
