Zamfara has produced three ministers of defence since 1999, but the group argued that Matawalle’s term had brought unparalleled focus to the ministry.

“Dr Matawalle’s commitment to addressing insecurity has earned him the admiration and support of the people,” the statement reads.

During a recent visit to Zamfara, Matawalle issued directives to reopen blocked roads, demonstrating his resolve to ensure free movement and enhance security.

His collaboration with the military to execute these orders underscores his proactive approach to governance.

The group also described Matawalle as the most youth-friendly defence minister since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999. They said his emphasis on youth empowerment and development has inspired hope among the younger generation.

Among his notable achievements, the youths pointed to his directives leading to the successful operation against notorious criminal Halilu Sububu. They noted that the operation has significantly improved security in the region.

Matawalle’s tenure as governor of Zamfara was also lauded for numerous development initiatives aimed at transforming the state.

The group stated that, as minister of state for defence, Matawalle has continued to demonstrate a strong commitment to the welfare of Zamfara’s citizens. They pledged continued support for his vision of a secure and prosperous Zamfara.
