Zaria Metropolitan Authority Awards Road Contracts

The Administrator of Zaria Metropolitan Authority, Hajiya Balaraba Aliyu-Inuwa, has disclosed that contract has been awarded for the construction of five roads in Zaria and Sabon Gari local governments.

Hajiya Balaraba who said that the roads will ease human and vehicular movements, further disclosed that the design and measurements of over 30 roads in the various local governments that comprise Zaria Metropolitan Authority, have been concluded.

Zaria Metropolitan Authority is made up of Zaria, Sabon Gari, Giwa and Soba local governments.

The Administrator promised that the Authority will construct good roads network, in line with Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s overall policy of infrastructure upgrade, which emphasizes quality.

Hajiya Balaraba added that the award of the roads contract is just the first phase of providing motorable roads with modern facilities that will ease traffic congestion within major metropoles of the Authority.

She also said that the Street Naming and House Numbering exercise will soon be completed, adding that a list will be drawn up comprising residents that have institutional history of the areas.

According to her, the list will consist of members from the Emirate Council, District Heads, Village Heads, local government officials and stakeholders who will recommend streets whose names needed to be changed.

The Administrator further disclosed that cleaning of the Metropolitan Area will be given priority, adding that it has now been divided into six zones and competent waste management companies will handle each zone.

Hajiya Balaraba further said that the Authority will soon call for proposals from competent companies to bid for the contracts.
