Zaura, Hanga Know Fate July 24

The National/State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, sitting in Kano has fixed July 24, 2023 to deliver judgement in a petition filed by Abdussalam Abdulkarim Zaura of the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging the declaration of Senator Rufa’i Sani Hanga as the winner of Kano Central Senatorial election, conducted on 25 February, 2023.

The tribunal adjourned the matter after the petitioners and respondents adopted their final written addresses.

The counsel to INEC, Barrister Abbas Haladu in his final written address urged the court to dismiss the petition.

Similarly, the counsel to Hanga and his party, NNPP, Barrister Meshak Ikpe, filed their written addresses,  dated and filed 9th June, 2023 urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition

“We hereby adopt same as our final written addresses and urge the tribunal to dismiss the petition,” he said.

The counsel to Ibrahim Shekarau, Mr Ismail Abdulaziz asked the court to also dismiss the petition.

While adopting his final written address, on behalf of the petitioner, Abdussalam Zaura, Nuraini Jimoh said he filed his final written address and told the court to allow the petition and grant all the reliefs sought.
