Zenith Bank/Delta Principals’ Cup: 25 Local Government Winners Emerge From Thrilling Finals

The 2025 edition of the Delta State Principals’ Cup football competition, sponsored by Zenith Bank Plc, has reached an exciting milestone as winners from the 25 Local Governments in the state were determined following a series of dramatic finals.

In a showcase of talent and passion, 25 schools clinched zonal tickets from their respective local government preliminary games, delivering a festival of football marked by an abundance of goals during the weekend.

In the Sapele LGA final, Okotie-Eboh Government School triumphed over Okpe Government School with a resounding 5-1 victory. Similarly, Urhobo College emerged victorious in the Uvwie LGA final, defeating Alegbo College 3-0. The Ughelli South final saw Otokutu Government School secure a dominant 4-0 win against Ovwor Model Secondary School.

A particularly striking match unfolded in Ndokwa-East LGA, where Ashaka Model Secondary School obliterated Oduga Secondary School Ushie with an astonishing 8-0 scoreline in a one-sided affair. In Patani LGA, a closely contested final saw Oproza Government School narrowly lose 3-2 to Uduophori Secondary Commercial School following a tense penalty shootout.

Alaka Grammar School Ozoro also enjoyed a decisive victory, overwhelming Iyede Secondary Commercial School 5-0 to earn their place in the next round from Isoko North LGA. A thrilling contest unfolded in the Ethiope East LGA final, where Abraka Government School edged past Ojeta Secondary School with a 3-2 win in another tightly fought match.

Tony Pemu, CEO of Hideaplus, the organisers of this developmental football competition, expressed enthusiasm about the current edition’s intensity and the promising final stages ahead. “The young lads are fired up, with a hunger for success evident in their play. We anticipate amazing contests in the final stages,” Pemu stated.

Eight quarterfinalists will be determined at zonal level scheduled to hold onTuesday September 30 to compete for honours on 7th October, with the semifinals scheduled for 9th October. The grand final is set to take place on 16th October at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
